The holidays are upon Fayette County and the courthouse lawn in Washington C.H. will be brighter after several county businesses helped to donate a tree.
The Christmas tree on the lawn this year was donated and placed Saturday thanks to the efforts of Custom Landscape Contractors, Garland Farms and Parrish Towing and Transport.
“The tree is a Colorado Blue Spruce that was grown here in Fayette County on a farm of mine on Yeoman Road,” said CLC President Jaret Bishop. “The good thing is whenever I cut a live Christmas tree, I make sure to replace it with at least 10 others. Trees are what we need for oxygen and just cutting one down to make room is not good. We need them around to ensure a future. Tree planting is our business, Custom brokers and installs about 3,000 trees per year. I understand the importance of having trees and we always are trying to plant more.”
Bishop grew up in Fayette County and has been in business since 1996. He lives outside of the community with his wife, Stacy, and has three children: Brilea, Braidy and Brenlee.
Trees are a large part of Bishop’s life and career, and he discussed the importance of them, including the effects of helping to clean the air, providing homes for wildlife, as well as some providing food. For more information about CLC, call 740-333-1669.
“I really enjoy helping the community and am especially glad to be able to do this good deed for them,” Bishop said. “I feel like it is a nice thing to do. It feels good to be able to give this tree to the community.”
Washington C.H. City Manager Joe Denen said the tree is probably the best looking one they have had, and it hasn’t even been decorated yet.
He said he appreciates the efforts of Garland and the street department, who helped get the tree set up. He also said he enjoys that the county commissioners and other leaders help with getting it set up.
