What’s your favorite way for you to better your physical fitness?

I enjoy group fitness classes or walking with family or friends. Working in a group helps you get a little more competitive than you would on your own. The music adds a fun, party aspect to the experience. Being with others, challenging or cheering each other on, makes the workout time seem to fly by.

Do you make new year’s resolutions?

Throughout the year I set goals for myself, including new year’s. It is not always about weight or fitness, sometimes it is about reaching out to an old friend or reading more non-fiction, but I do think setting goals is important to keep challenging yourself to learn and improve, at any age.

What holiday food, to you, is always worth the splurge of calories?

Most Christmas cookies are hard to resist for me — especially iced butter cookies. I think it is the combination of good family memories and taste!

Is decorating your home/office for the seasons a must, a maybe if you have time, or a pass?

For Christmas, it is a must — both at work and at home because of the joy it brings the kids at both locations.

Would you rather host a 10-guest dinner party or attend it?

Definitely attend, and help the host. I get nervous hosting anything and admire those who love to entertain and host events.

What do you love most about your community?

Lima has been a great place to raise a family. Our kids all enjoyed participating in sports and 4-H and were recognized in this area much more than they would have been in a big city. I love living in an area where there are seasons (although I do love summer the most – Indian Lake is close.) We enjoy great music and entertainment at Veterans Memorial Civic Center. Having a choice of advanced education in this area is great. My husband and I both attended The Ohio State University Lima Branch for part of our education — as did our children. There are venues in the area to watch live music during the week as well as weekends, our parks in the area are exceptional … and of course the Lima Family YMCA offers great activities for youth, families, seniors and individuals. (OK, I am a little biased on this agency – but it is exceptional and has some awesome community support!) Lima is a great community to live, learn, enjoy the arts and raise a family.
